Announcing New "En Español" Page on Chapter Website
Thanks to a renewed grant from the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park, the Chapter has been able to extend its reach and awareness within the Illinois Latino community including the creation of a variety of bi-lingual promotional materials, ads in Spanish-language newspapers, and a professional education program for the entire Lake County Health Department (coming in April.) As part of our commitment to the Latino community, we are pleased to announce the creation of our first-ever "En Español" page of resources--written in Spanish for Spanish speakers.

MS Wellness Summit in Springfield on Saturday, April 21
The Chapter will hold a free, half-day wellness summit in Springfield on Saturday, April 21. Experts including Rob Motl, PhD, University of Illinois, Kim McClintic, MS, RD, OSF Healthcare, Erin Kennedy, MS, PT, OSF Healthcare, and Atsuko Cummins, Tai Chi Instructor, Taoist Tai Chi Society, will help people living with MS and their families develop more confidence in their abilities to understand and learn about wellness with MS.

MS Action Day Is Wednesday, March 28
On March 28, Greater Illinois Chapter staff and volunteers will gather in Springfield to lobby Illinois legislators on issues including physical accessibility to medical exams and diagnostic treatment equipment in nursing homes, and gas station accessibility. For the second year in a row, we will also provide virtual opportunities to participate from home via phone and web.

Chapter Staff, Activists Attend National Public Policy Conference
Chapter staff and volunteer activists attended the annual National MS Society Public Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., March 5-7, to discuss the latest federal policy issues and to lobby Congress for increased funding for MS research. New "Quality Care for People with MS" Trainings
Seven recently-trained health educators will conduct Providing Quality Care to People with MS service trainings in facilities throughout Illinois that will provide specialized training to care staff. In addition, residents at these facilities will be asked if they would like to be contacted by a volunteer for friendly visits or supportive phone calls.

Another Successful MS Carnivale!
On Friday, March 16, 500 guests enjoyed New Orleans flair and a rocking good time at the 10th annual MS Carnivale at Par-a-Dice Hotel in East Peoria. Thank you to all who attended. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
