New Parking Law Takes Effect January 1

New Parking Law Effective January 1
Public Act 096-1125, which strengthens penalties to property owners who fail to keep their accessible parking aisles and spaces clear, takes effect January 1. The Greater Illinois Chapter and its activists helped promote the law, which was signed on July 20, 2010 by Governor Pat Quinn. Businesses who allow their accessible parking spaces to remain obstructed will be subject to a fine of up to $250. Dial 311 to report parking obstructions to your local police.
