A 5-week online course

BEGINNING MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2012

If you are interested in starting a business or exploring opportunities as an entrepreneur, this five-week online course offered in partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University may be just what you need.

LEARN HOW TO:

  • Create a business plan
  • Conduct a feasibility study
  • Access community supports
  • Identify funding
  • Use work incentive

Weekly, web-based lessons include an online discussion forum, audio lectures, and selected readings.

  • Each person is required to have an individual e-mail account to register.
  • Updates and feedback on the course activities will be sent via e-mail.
  • Participants must be able to receive and send messages in order to benefit from this online experience.

Information for a specific lesson will be available by 8 a.m. (CDT) on the first date listed for any given lesson. You will be able to log on to the course at any time of the day and access the audio lectures. The course includes five weekly lessons and each lesson should take approximately 4-5 hours to complete. There is a $25 fee for this course.

All participants will be assigned to a small group. These groups will be asked to correspond with each other on the course bulletin boards. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of nationally known experts in self-employment.

A certificate of completion from Virginia Commonwealth University will be issued to those who participate in the discussion boards and complete all required assignments within the specified time frame.

PLEASE NOTE: You will receive a confirmation email,  updates, and feedback on course activities directly from Virginia Commonwealth University.
