Run to Stop MS 2011: Registration Now Open Last year, 41 Run to Stop MS runners participated in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, raising more than $44,000 in the movement for a world free of MS. If you'll be running in this year's marathon, we ask that you consider participating as a 2011 Run to Stop MS runner. Registration opens February 1.

Expanded Resources for Partners on the Journey This year, the National MS Society is launching expanded resources for individuals who provide support or assistance to family members or friends with MS. The new effort, "Partners on the Journey," includes discussion groups and workshops to help care partners manage better, destress, and feel better able to help.

New Six-Week Class for Care Partners As part of the Society's renewed emphasis on care partners, our Chapter and the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association are co-sponsoring “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a six-week class beginning Wednesday, February 9, to help caregivers (another term for care partners) provide proper care while staying healthy themselves. Studying the Effects of Exercise on MS The Exercise Neuroscience Laboratory on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus has ongoing, funded research projects examining exercise behavior and its beneficial consequences in persons with MS.
